Description: This variable is used to run a diagnostic test on the serial port (UART).
To run the test this variable must be set to runTest(3). Setting this to any other value will result in an error.
What is uartTest?
This read-write enumerated value lets an admin run a diagnostic self-test on the IN3000's serial port (UART) hardware by setting it to runTest(3); reading it back afterward returns testPass(1) or testFailed(2), and any other value written is rejected as an error. An admin would trigger this test after seeing persistent uartFramingErrors or uartParityErrors that did not resolve after correcting the terminal's baud rate, parity, and stop-bit settings. Setting uartTest to runTest(3) and reading back testFailed(2) would tell an admin the serial port hardware itself, not the cabling or terminal configuration, is at fault.
