Description: The number of times the ethernet controlled was unable to transmit a collision signal after transmission of a packet.

What is rptrNICTxCDHrtbts?

This counter records how many times the Ethernet controller failed to send its collision-detect heartbeat pulse right after transmitting a frame. It is a hardware self-check signal, so a nonzero and growing count usually indicates a failing transceiver or SQE circuit on the repeater's NIC rather than a network congestion problem. An admin troubleshooting an IN3000 that intermittently drops off the management network would check this counter to rule out a degrading NIC before replacing cabling.
