An admin can use it to see whether one particular port's traffic profile, such as port 1, differs from the rest of its group, for example a port carrying mostly small keep-alive frames. Watching this bin rise steadily on that port while its sibling ports stay flat would tell an admin the device attached there has a distinctive traffic pattern worth investigating.
