What is messageString?
This read-only display string carries a free-text elaboration, up to 128 characters, that accompanies a COMETMS-MIB alarm. An administrator monitoring the environmental/alarm unit reads this field to get the human-readable explanation behind an alarm code, rather than having to decode a bare numeric status. For example, when a battery alarm fires, messageString might read "Battery voltage below threshold" giving the technician immediate context without consulting a manual.
