This read-only FloatingPoint value reports the Link interface's current Bit Error Rate, calculated adaptively so the measurement itself is accurate to within 1%. An admin watches this value in near real time to catch a microwave link degrading during weather events or interference, well before enough uncorrected errors accumulate to drop traffic. For example, wvlinkInstantaneousBER climbing from 1e-9 to 1e-5 during a rainstorm shows the link approaching its FEC correction limit even though throughput hasn't visibly dropped yet.
