This read-write enumerated object filters which severity of alarms the terminal actually sends as SNMP traps to the configured trap recipients, ranging from all alarms down to none. An administrator tunes this to reduce trap noise at the NMS by suppressing lower-severity warnings while still forwarding fatal conditions. For example, setting wvAlarmsReportToNMSCtrl to fatalOnly on a terminal generating frequent minor warnings keeps the NOC's trap feed focused on genuinely critical failures.
