Description: The number of IPX packets discarded because the destination socket was not open.
What is ipxSysInUnknownSockets?
This Counter tracks the number of IPX packets discarded because their destination socket was not open on the receiving system. An admin watches this to spot traffic aimed at services that aren't running or listening on this device. For example, an operator seeing a spike in ipxSysInUnknownSockets after decommissioning an IPX-based application would recognize it as clients still trying to reach the now-closed socket.
