Module: CISCOSB-rlFft
OID (symbolic): CISCOSB-rlFft::rlInetFftNextHopType
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.47.1.16.1.5
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-only
Description: The NextHop type.
What is rlInetFftNextHopType?
This read-only enumerated INTEGER classifies a next hop as local, remote, reject, or drop, describing how the switch treats traffic destined there. This distinction matters because a next hop marked reject or drop means traffic is being intentionally blackholed rather than forwarded, which explains connectivity failures that aren't due to a missing route. An admin seeing unexpected packet loss to a destination could check this field and discover the next hop type is drop, indicating a deliberate null-route rather than a hardware fault.
