Description: Specifies whether automatic set of time and date is permitted from connected host PC. The feature is meant to be used in order to initialize the clock after reboot (if SNTP is not in use), since the device does not have a realtime clock.

What is rlAutomaticClockSetFromPCEnabled?

This read-write TruthValue enables the device to accept a time/date set automatically from a connected host PC. It matters because the device has no realtime clock hardware of its own, so after a power loss it needs either SNTP or this PC-assisted mechanism to recover a valid time on boot. For example, a small-office switch with no internet-reachable NTP server would rely on this setting being TRUE so a technician's laptop can seed the clock after every reboot.
