rlStormCtrlRateDependencyBetweenTypes

Module: CISCOSB-STORMCTRL-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCOSB-STORMCTRL-MIB::rlStormCtrlRateDependencyBetweenTypes

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.77.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-only

Description: indicate limitation of dependency between frame types for rate assignment, for example: assigning of rate limit for unicast frame must assigning the same rate for multicast and bradcast frame (bcm 5615), in case the device support enbale per each frame type but with the same rate limitation.

What is rlStormCtrlRateDependencyBetweenTypes?

This read-only 1-byte OCTET STRING bitmap indicates hardware limitations where setting a rate limit for one frame type forces the same rate onto other types, such as unicast rate assignment also applying to multicast and broadcast on the BCM 5615 chipset. Admins consult it before assuming they can set independent thresholds per frame type. For example, an admin who wants a stricter broadcast limit than multicast checks this bitmap and discovers the chipset ties the two rates together, so a different approach is needed.
