rlTacacsServerInetSourceInterface

Module: CISCOSB-AAA

OID (symbolic): CISCOSB-AAA::rlTacacsServerInetSourceInterface

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.79.40.9.1.10

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: InetAddress

Access: read-write

Description: Inet address of the interface to use with this server. A value of NULL for this object disables source address specification for this server. A value of 255.255.255.255 maens that the global default rlTacacsGlobalDefaultSourceIpInterface or rlTacacsGlobalDefaultSourceIPv6Interface values are used.

What is rlTacacsServerInetSourceInterface?

This read-write InetAddress pins the source address used when contacting this TACACS+ server, where a NULL value disables source-address specification for the server and 255.255.255.255 means fall back to the global default (IPv4 or IPv6) source interface. An admin cares because TACACS+ servers are frequently firewalled to accept requests only from a known management address, so this setting controls whether that firewall rule is satisfied. For example, an admin whose TACACS+ server only trusts traffic from the switch's loopback address sets this object to that loopback address rather than letting the switch pick an arbitrary egress interface.
