cwpanNotificationEnable

Module: CISCO-WPAN-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-WPAN-MIB::cwpanNotificationEnable

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.819.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-write

Description: This object specifies whether the system generates the following notifications:

cwpanServiceStatusChangeNotif cwpanRplTableResetNotif cwpanRisingIfRplTblMinorThreshNodesNotif cwpanFallingIfRplTblMinorThreshNodesNotif cwpanRisingIfRplTblMajorThreshNodesNotif cwpanFallingIfRplTblMajorThreshNodesNotif

A value of 'false' will prevent any of the above notifications from being generated by this system.

What is cwpanNotificationEnable?

This read-write object is a master switch controlling whether the device generates the whole family of WPAN-related notifications, including service status changes, RPL table resets, and the rising/falling threshold-node notifications; setting it to false suppresses all of them. An admin uses this to globally silence WPAN alerting, for example during a maintenance window with expected disruptive changes. For example, before performing a planned firmware upgrade on a WPAN gateway that will cause several expected service-status transitions, an admin might temporarily set cwpanNotificationEnable to false to avoid a flood of unnecessary alerts.
