t38MaxFaxTxRate

Module: CISCO-WAN-T38-FAXRELAY-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-WAN-T38-FAXRELAY-MIB::t38MaxFaxTxRate

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.150.19.1.1.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object is used for configuring the maximum fax transmission rate.

'fx2400bps' - maximum transmission rate in 2400 bps. 'fx4800bps' - maximum transmission rate in 4800 bps. 'fx7200bps' - maximum transmission rate in 7200 bps. 'fx9600bps' - maximum transmission rate in 9600 bps. 'fx12000bps' - maximum transmission rate in 12000 bps. 'fx14400bps' - maximum transmission rate in 14400 bps.

What is t38MaxFaxTxRate?

This read-write enumeration caps the fax transmission rate the gateway will negotiate for T.38 fax relay, with choices such as fx2400bps up through fx14400bps. An admin lowers this ceiling on links with poor quality or limited bandwidth to force fax calls to negotiate down to a rate the connection can reliably sustain. For example, setting t38MaxFaxTxRate to fx9600bps on a congested WAN link prevents fax machines from attempting a 14400bps session that would be more likely to fail or retrain.
