cwnOtherClockSource

Module: CISCO-WAN-NCDP-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-WAN-NCDP-MIB::cwnOtherClockSource

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.223.1.2.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: This variable identifies the type of a clock source that does not have an 'ifIndex' associated.

This value is 'none(1) if 'cwnInterfaceIndex' contains a non-zero value.

The value 'internalOscillator(1) indicates a clock source is an oscillator local to the device.

The value 'bitsClockE1(2) indicates a Building Integrated Timing Supply (BITS) clock source on an E1 port.

The value 'bitsClockT1(3) indicates a BITS clock source on a T1 port.

What is cwnOtherClockSource?

This read-only INTEGER identifies the type of a clock source without an associated ifIndex, with values none(1) when cwnInterfaceIndex is non-zero, internalOscillator(2) for a local onboard oscillator, and bitsClockE1(3) or bitsClockT1(4) for a Building Integrated Timing Supply clock on an E1 or T1 port respectively. An admin reads this specifically when cwnInterfaceIndex is zero, to determine whether the device's non-interface clock reference is its own internal oscillator or an external BITS feed. A device reporting internalOscillator(2) rather than a BITS clock would tell an admin it's relying on its own free-running clock rather than an external timing reference, which affects long-term accuracy.
