cwnDistributionMethod

Module: CISCO-WAN-NCDP-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-WAN-NCDP-MIB::cwnDistributionMethod

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.223.1.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The method used to distribute network clock for the device.

When the mode of operation is 'ncdp', this device participates in NCDP protocol. A single 'master' clock source will be identified as the clock source for this network as a result. The tables 'cwnAtmSourceTable' and 'cwnAtmInterfaceTable' are used in this mode.

When the mode of operation is 'manual', the network clock source is statically configured in this device. The table 'cwnManualSourceTable' is used in this mode.

What is cwnDistributionMethod?

This read-write INTEGER, set to ncdp(1) or manual(2), selects how network clock is distributed for the device, where ncdp mode has the device participate in the NCDP protocol to identify a single master clock source using the cwnAtmSourceTable and cwnAtmInterfaceTable, versus manual mode which uses a different clock source configuration. An admin chooses this based on whether they want automated clock-source arbitration across the network via NCDP or a manually pinned clock source. Switching a device from manual to ncdp(1) mode would activate participation in the network-wide clock election process instead of relying on a fixed local configuration.
