cwacsHighIngEOF1Discard

Module: CISCO-WAN-ATM-CONN-STAT-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-WAN-ATM-CONN-STAT-MIB::cwacsHighIngEOF1Discard

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.150.2.1.1.1.1.59

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: The number of valid EOF=1 ATM cells in the ingress direction of this Channel which are discarded at the traffic management entity. This counter carries upper 32-bits of cwacsHCIngEOF1Discard. The lower 32-bits will be present in cwacsIngEOF1Discard.

What is cwacsHighIngEOF1Discard?

This is the upper 32 bits of the 64-bit count of ingress cells on this channel that carried the EOF=1 marker and were discarded specifically at the traffic management entity, rather than earlier in the pipeline. Reading it together with the low-order cwacsIngEOF1Discard (or the combined cwacsHCIngEOF1Discard) lets an operator see, on a high-volume channel, how many frame-ending cells the traffic-management/shaping function itself is dropping, which points to shaping or policing as the cause of incomplete AAL5 frames rather than upstream congestion. If end systems report truncated frames on a given PVC, an admin would check whether this counter is incrementing to see if the traffic management stage is discarding the frame-terminating cells.
