Description:

This object is used for achieving OAM inter-operability between switches that cannot generate/detect segment AIS cells. This attribute enables the newer generation of switches to understand the OAM capability of the peer endpoint and accordingly generate/detect seg/e2e AIS as required. The value of this attribute is decided during provisioning time by network management.

What is cwaChanAisIWCapability?

This configuration object specifies the OAM (Operations, Administration, Maintenance) interworking capability for AIS (Alarm Indication Signal) generation on an ATM channel to ensure compatibility with peer equipment. Switches generate or detect segment or end-to-end AIS based on this setting to maintain interoperability with older equipment that may not support certain OAM features. Network engineers configure this during provisioning to ensure proper OAM signaling between incompatible switch generations.
