vtpVlanEditStpType

Module: CISCO-VTP-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-VTP-MIB::vtpVlanEditStpType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.46.1.4.2.1.9

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-create

Description: The type of the Spanning Tree Protocol which would be running on this VLAN. This object is only instantiated when the value of the corresponding instance of vtpVlanEditType has a value of fddiNet(4) or trNet(5).

If 'ieee' is selected, the STP that runs will be IEEE.

If 'ibm' is selected, the STP that runs will be IBM.

If 'auto' is selected, the STP that runs will be dependant on the values of vtpVlanEditBridgeType for all children tokenRing/fddi type VLANs. This will result in a 'hybrid' STP (see vtpVlanStpType).

What is vtpVlanEditStpType?

This read-create INTEGER stages which Spanning Tree Protocol variant, IEEE, IBM, or auto (dependent on child bridge types), a VLAN of type fddiNet or trNet would run once the edit buffer is applied. An administrator selects this while preparing a legacy FDDI or Token Ring network VLAN for a specific STP behavior. For example, choosing auto here lets the eventual STP behavior on that VLAN be determined by whatever bridge types are attached, rather than forcing a single variant.
