Description:
The maximum number of bridge hops allowed in All Routes Explorer frames on this VLAN. This object is only instantiated when the value of the corresponding instance of vtpVlanType has a value of fddi(2) or tokenRing(3) and Source Routing is in use on this VLAN.
What is vtpVlanEditAreHopCount?
This OID stores the maximum number of bridge hops allowed in All Routes Explorer (ARE) frames used on FDDI or Token Ring VLANs with Source Routing enabled. ARE frames discover network paths by flooding; limiting hops prevents excessive network flooding. A network operator adjusts this value to balance path discovery speed against unnecessary broadcast traffic in legacy bridged networks.
