What is ciscoVisionDmpTvOnOff?

This Integer32 object reports whether the television connected to a Cisco Vision Digital Media Player (DMP) is currently on, off, or in an unknown state, using the values 0/1/-1 respectively. It matters operationally because a DMP endpoint that thinks its display is off may be failing to deliver digital signage content to viewers even though the player itself is running. A venue operations team monitoring a stadium's video board network would poll this value across all DMPs to spot displays that have been powered down unexpectedly during an event.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Select a Cisco Vision digital signage device as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type ciscoVisionDmpTvOnOff into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. This field represents the dmp Tv on Of status 0 : On 1 : Off -1 : Unknown. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an Integer32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value drifts significantly from its normal baseline, since an unexpected change often points to a real underlying issue. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
