Description: This object indicates the network adapter used by virtual ethernet interface port.

This object contains the Network Adapter ID if Virtual Machine is attached to VNIC.

This object contains VMK ID if the Virtual Machine is attached to VMKNIC.

This object contains value of 'vswif' if the Virtual Machine is attached to VSWIF.

What is cvnVethAdapter?

This identifies the specific network adapter backing a virtual ethernet interface, holding a Network Adapter ID for a VNIC attachment, a VMK ID for a VMKNIC attachment, or the literal string vswif for a VSWIF attachment. An admin cares because this tells you exactly what kind of virtualization construct is behind a given virtual ethernet port when troubleshooting connectivity for a specific VM. For example, seeing this return a VMK ID rather than a Network Adapter ID confirms this virtual ethernet interface belongs to a VMware kernel NIC rather than a VM's own network adapter.
