This read-only Counter counts frames that were actually switched, forwarded in hardware between ports, via this port, giving a direct measure of this port's contribution to the switch's forwarding throughput. This is a cleaner throughput indicator than raw InFrames/OutFrames because it specifically reflects successfully switched traffic rather than every frame received, including ones later dropped for errors. A port expected to be a high-traffic uplink showing an unexpectedly low switched-frame count relative to its InFrames would suggest many received frames are being dropped rather than forwarded.
