A baseline level of broadcast traffic is normal, but a sharp and sustained spike on one port is the classic signature of a broadcast storm originating from a device attached to that specific port, which an admin would then contain using ciscoTsPortCfgBcastSuppresion. Comparing this counter across all ports quickly isolates which port the storm is actually coming from.
