Description: The number of soft errors reported from a station connected to this port which, if exceeded, should cause a soft error exceeded trap to be issued. The error counters being monitored and compared to this threshold value are all of the error counters in the ringStationTable (see RFC 1513).

What is ciscoTsPortCfgSoftErrThreshold?

This read-write INTEGER (1-255) sets how many soft errors a single station attached to this port can report before the switch issues a soft-error-exceeded trap, with the description specifying the error counters checked are those in the standard RFC 1513 ringStationTable. An admin uses this to get proactive alerts about a degrading Token Ring connection, rising CRC or other soft errors from one station, before it fails outright. Setting this to 20 means a station reporting more than 20 cumulative soft errors within the sampling window triggers a trap.
