Description: The sampling period, in seconds, in which each station connected to this port will be monitored for excessive soft error reports. If a station reports more than ciscoTsPortCfgSoftErrThreshold errors within the sampling period a trap will be issued to the management station(s). Setting a value of 0 will cause no traps to be sent for this port.

What is ciscoTsPortCfgSoftErrReportInterval?

This read-write INTEGER (0-65535) sets, in seconds, the sampling window during which stations on this port are monitored for exceeding the ciscoTsPortCfgSoftErrThreshold soft-error count, and setting it to 0 suppresses soft-error traps entirely for this port. An admin who wants alerting only on sustained problems rather than brief noise would lengthen this window, while a shorter window catches rapid-onset issues faster at the risk of more frequent, possibly noisy traps. Setting this to 0 is the deliberate way to silence soft-error alerting on a known-noisy but otherwise tolerable link.
