Description: A bit mask representing all the ports on which this duplicate MAC address is currently being filtered. Each octet within the value of this object specifies a set of eight ports, with the first octet specifying ports 1 through 8, the second octet specifying ports 9 through 16, etc. Within each octet, the most significant bit represents the lowest numbered port, and the least significant bit represents the highest numbered port. Thus, each port of the switch is represented by a single bit within the value of this object. If that bit has a value of '1' then that port is included in the set of ports in this switch; the port is not included in this switch if its bit has a value of '0'.
What is ciscoTsDupAddrFilterPorts?
This read-only OCTET STRING (4 bytes) is a bitmask showing which ports are currently having this duplicate MAC address's traffic filtered/discarded, following the standard port-bitmask convention. An admin tracking down a duplicate-address problem uses this to know exactly which physical ports the conflicting devices are attached to, narrowing the search for the actual duplicated hardware. Seeing multiple bits set here means the same duplicate address is showing up on multiple ports simultaneously, which usually points at a switching loop or a MAC address genuinely cloned onto multiple devices.
