Description: The stack configuration of the system. A system can exist in three possible configurations.

1. Stand alone mode where the system has only one switch and is not connected to any other switches.

2. Back to Back mode in which a pair of switches are connected back to back through Stack Port.

3. Matrix mode in which the stack has up to eight switches connected to a Matrix through the Stack Port.

What is ciscoTsConfiguration?

This read-only INTEGER reports which of three physical stacking topologies the system is wired into: stand-alone(1) for a single unconnected switch, back-to-back(2) for a pair joined directly through their Stack Ports, or prostack-matrix(3) for up to eight switches joined through a Matrix module. An admin reads this to confirm the cabling actually matches the intended design before troubleshooting stack-wide features like RMON or trap distribution, since those depend on how many switches are really in the stack. Seeing back-to-back(2) when eight switches were expected would immediately flag a cabling or Matrix module problem.
