Module: CISCO-SCTP-MIB
OID (symbolic): CISCO-SCTP-MIB::ceSctpAssocState

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-only
Description: The state of this SCTP association. As in TCP, the only value which may be set by a management station is deleteTCB. Accordingly, it is appropriate for an agent to return a 'badValue' response if a management station attempts to set this object to any other value. If a management station sets this object to the value deleteTCB(9), then this has the effect of deleting the TCB (as defined in SCTP) of the corresponding association on the managed node, resulting in immediate termination of the association. As an implementation-specific option, an ABORT chunk may be sent from the managed node to the other SCTP endpoint.
What is ceSctpAssocState?
This object is the current protocol state of one specific SCTP association, such as closed, cookieWait, cookieEchoed, or established, and it can only be set to the special deleteTCB value, which forcibly tears the association down. This is the per-association version of an up/down status: an admin polling one specific peer's association can see exactly where in the handshake or teardown it is stuck, and can SNMP-SET deleteTCB to clear a hung association without a device reload. An association stuck in cookieWait for several minutes instead of reaching established indicates the handshake with that specific peer is failing partway through, likely at the COOKIE-ECHO step.
