cospfSetTrap

Module: CISCO-OSPF-TRAP-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-OSPF-TRAP-MIB::cospfSetTrap

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.101.1.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Bits

Access: read-write

Description: An octet string serving as a bit map for the trap events defined by the OSPF traps in this MIB. This object is used to enable and disable specific OSPF traps where a 1 in the corresponding bit field represents enabled.

What is cospfSetTrap?

This object is a bitmask where each bit independently enables or disables a specific category of OSPF trap defined in this MIB module, such as interface configuration errors or LSA retransmission events, letting an admin fine-tune exactly which OSPF fault conditions generate SNMP notifications rather than an all-or-nothing switch. It matters for controlling alert noise; an admin might want retransmission-related traps enabled on a flaky WAN-facing OSPF neighbor while suppressing them on a stable, low-latency core link where retransmissions would be truly anomalous and worth different handling. Setting the interface-config-error bit while leaving the virtual-interface-config-error bit clear would mean regular interface config mismatches generate traps, but the same class of issue on virtual links would not.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.101.1.1.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-OSPF-TRAP-MIB::cospfSetTrap

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.101.1.1.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-OSPF-TRAP-MIB::cospfSetTrap.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.101.1.1.1.1 s <value>
