Module: CISCO-OSPF-TRAP-MIB
OID (symbolic): CISCO-OSPF-TRAP-MIB::cospfPacketSrc
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.101.1.1.4
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: IpAddress
Access: read-only
Description: The IP address of an inbound packet that can- not be identified by a neighbor instance. When the last value of a trap using this object is needed, but no traps of that type have been sent, this value pertaining to this object should be returned as 0.0.0.0.
What is cospfPacketSrc?
This object reports the source IP address of an inbound OSPF packet that the router could not associate with any known, already-established neighbor instance, flagging traffic from an unexpected or unrecognized source. It matters as a security and misconfiguration signal: legitimate OSPF traffic should always come from a recognized neighbor, so a populated value here points either to a misconfigured device trying to join the OSPF domain or, in a worse case, unauthorized traffic attempting to interact with the OSPF process. An admin seeing this populated with an unfamiliar address on a network where no device at that address should be running OSPF at all would want to investigate that source immediately.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.101.1.1.4 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-OSPF-TRAP-MIB::cospfPacketSrc
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.101.1.1.4.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-OSPF-TRAP-MIB::cospfPacketSrc.1
