cospfShamLinksRetransInterval

Module: CISCO-OSPF-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-OSPF-MIB::cospfShamLinksRetransInterval

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.99.11.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: UpToMaxAge

Access: read-only

Description: The number of seconds between link-state advertisement retransmissions, for adjacencies belonging to this link. This value is also used when retransmitting database description and link-state request packets. This value should be well over the expected round trip time.

What is cospfShamLinksRetransInterval?

This object reports the LSA retransmission interval for adjacencies on a sham link, functionally identical to cospfShamLinkRetransInterval but defined in what appears to be a separate, alternately-named ShamLinks table in this MIB module. It matters the same way as its singular-named counterpart: it needs to be set well above the round-trip time of the underlying MPLS VPN path to avoid wasteful retransmissions, and mismatches between the two named tables, if both are populated for the same link, would be worth reconciling to avoid confusing which value is actually governing behavior. An admin should confirm which of the two similarly-named tables their monitoring tool is actually reading from before trusting a given retransmission-interval value for troubleshooting.
