cospfShamLinkNbrOptions

Module: CISCO-OSPF-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-OSPF-MIB::cospfShamLinkNbrOptions

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.99.10.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-only

Description: A Bit Mask corresponding to the neighbor's options field.

Bit 1, if set, indicates that the system will operate on Type of Service metrics other than TOS 0. If zero, the neighbor will ignore all metrics except the TOS 0 metric.

Bit 2, if set, indicates that the system is Network Multicast capable; ie, that it implements OSPF Multicast Routing.

What is cospfShamLinkNbrOptions?

This object reports the OSPF options bitmask the sham link neighbor advertised, where per the description bit 1 indicates the neighbor honors metrics beyond plain TOS 0 and bit 2 indicates multicast, OSPF Multicast Routing, capability. It matters for confirming feature compatibility across the sham link; if an admin expects TOS-based routing or multicast extensions to work across that logical adjacency, this value confirms whether the neighbor actually advertised support for them, rather than assuming based on general router capability. A neighbor reporting a value with bit 2 clear would tell the admin not to expect OSPF multicast routing to function correctly across that particular sham-linked connection.
