This object reports how many Opaque AS-scope link-state advertisements currently exist in the router's link-state database, a simple size metric for that specific LSA category. It matters as a database-health and scale indicator; a sudden, unexplained jump or drop in this count can signal either a legitimate topology or TE change across the autonomous system or a database synchronization problem worth investigating. An admin comparing this count across multiple routers in the same OSPF domain expects them to match; a persistent mismatch would point to an LSA flooding or database sync issue.
