cOPatchEventType

Module: CISCO-OPTICAL-PATCH-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-OPTICAL-PATCH-MIB::cOPatchEventType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.67.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: The event type of the patch. The use is as follows: create(1) The value of this object when cOPatchEvent is generated upon creation of a patch. delete(2) The value of this object when cOPatchEvent is generated upon deletion of a patch. modify(3) The value of this object when cOPatchEvent is generated upon modification of a patch.

What is cOPatchEventType?

This object identifies which of three lifecycle actions, creation, deletion, or modification, triggered the accompanying notification about an optical patch, a logical or physical cross-connect between optical ports. It matters because on optical transport gear, patches represent actual physical or logical light paths carrying traffic, so knowing whether a notification represents a new patch being stood up versus an existing one being torn down or changed is critical to correctly interpreting whether a resulting service disruption was intentional. A notification arriving with this object set to delete right before a service outage ticket comes in would immediately confirm the outage was caused by a patch removal, deliberate or accidental, rather than an equipment fault.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.67.1.4
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-OPTICAL-PATCH-MIB::cOPatchEventType

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.67.1.4.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-OPTICAL-PATCH-MIB::cOPatchEventType.1

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> cOPatchEventType.1
