Description: The total number of VRRP advertisements received by this virtual router.

Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of the corresponding instance of cVrrpStatisticsDiscontinuityTime.

What is cVrrpStatisticsAdvertiseRcvd?

This counts the total VRRP advertisements this virtual router instance has received from its peer(s) over time, which for a healthy backup router should climb steadily and predictably at the rate implied by the configured cVrrpOperationsAdvInterval. A count that stops growing, or grows far slower than expected given the advertisement interval, indicates this router has stopped hearing from its VRRP peer, exactly the condition that would correctly trigger this backup to eventually assume master. Graphing this counter's rate of increase is a simple way to confirm advertisements are arriving on schedule before ever needing to look at more detailed error counters.
