cVrrpStatisticsAdvIntervalErrors

Module: CISCO-IETF-VRRP-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-IETF-VRRP-MIB::cVrrpStatisticsAdvIntervalErrors

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.999.2.5.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: The total number of VRRP advertisement packets received for which the advertisement interval is different than the one configured for the local virtual router.

Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of the corresponding instance of cVrrpStatisticsDiscontinuityTime.

What is cVrrpStatisticsAdvIntervalErrors?

This counts VRRP advertisement packets received where the advertisement interval encoded in the packet doesn't match this router's own locally configured interval for that virtual router, a specific symptom of two peers being configured with different cVrrpOperationsAdvInterval values. It's a narrower, more actionable diagnostic than a generic 'VRRP flapping' complaint, since it points directly at an interval mismatch between the two routers rather than a physical or checksum-level problem. Finding this counter climbing is the cue to go compare the advertisement interval configured on both routers in the pair rather than looking elsewhere.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.999.2.5.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-IETF-VRRP-MIB::cVrrpStatisticsAdvIntervalErrors

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.999.2.5.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-IETF-VRRP-MIB::cVrrpStatisticsAdvIntervalErrors.1

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> cVrrpStatisticsAdvIntervalErrors.1
