cVrrpStatisticsAddressListErrors

Module: CISCO-IETF-VRRP-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-IETF-VRRP-MIB::cVrrpStatisticsAddressListErrors

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.999.2.5.1.8

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: The total number of VRRP packets received for which the address list contained in the packets does not match the locally configured list that corresponds to rows in the cVrrpAssociatedAddrTable for the virtual router.

Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of the corresponding instance of cVrrpStatisticsDiscontinuityTime.

What is cVrrpStatisticsAddressListErrors?

This counts VRRP advertisements received where the list of protected IP addresses embedded in the packet doesn't match this router's own locally configured address list, the cVrrpAssociatedAddrTable entries, for that virtual router, a direct sign that the two peers were configured to protect different sets of addresses. It's a very specific and actionable diagnostic for a virtual router group where failover technically works but clients using certain addresses lose connectivity anyway, because the backup doesn't actually have the full address list that the master was protecting. Finding this counter incrementing should immediately prompt comparing the exact address lists configured on both peers rather than assuming a general VRRP fault.
