Description: The total number of VRRP packets received with an invalid VRID for this virtual router.

What is cVrrpRouterVrIdErrors?

This counts VRRP packets received with a Virtual Router ID that doesn't match this router's own configured VRID for that virtual router instance, which can happen from misconfiguration, such as two different groups accidentally sharing a VLAN, or from unrelated VRRP traffic leaking onto the wrong network segment. A rising count here on an interface that's supposed to carry only one VRRP group is a specific, actionable clue that either a second, unrelated VRRP deployment is bleeding onto this segment, or a neighboring router was misconfigured with the wrong VRID. This is a narrower diagnostic than a generic 'VRRP isn't working' complaint, pointing specifically at an ID mismatch rather than a version or checksum problem.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.999.2.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-IETF-VRRP-MIB::cVrrpRouterVrIdErrors

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.999.2.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-IETF-VRRP-MIB::cVrrpRouterVrIdErrors.1
