cVrrpOperationsVirtualMacAddr
Module: CISCO-IETF-VRRP-MIB
OID (symbolic): CISCO-IETF-VRRP-MIB::cVrrpOperationsVirtualMacAddr
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.999.1.7.1.3
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: MacAddress
Access: read-only
Description: The virtual MAC address of the virtual router. Although the value of this object can be derived from the 'cVrrpOperationsVrId' object, i.e., 00-00-5E-00-01-(VRID) for IPv4 and 00-00-5E-00-02-(VRID) for IPv6, it is defined so that it is easily obtainable by a management application and can be included in VRRP-related SNMP notifications.
What is cVrrpOperationsVirtualMacAddr?
This is the virtual MAC address associated with this VRRP virtual router, which technically could be computed from the VRID (00-00-5E-00-01-VRID for IPv4 or 00-00-5E-00-02-VRID for IPv6) but is exposed directly here for convenience so management applications and trap payloads don't need to do that derivation themselves. It's useful for confirming a specific gratuitous ARP or ND observed on the wire actually corresponds to this virtual router's expected MAC, which matters when diagnosing a client failing to fail over correctly after a master transition. If packet captures show ARP replies for the virtual IP using a MAC that doesn't match this object's value, something is impersonating or misconfiguring the virtual router's identity on the LAN.
