ciiSysID

Module: CISCO-IETF-ISIS-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-IETF-ISIS-MIB::ciiSysID

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.118.1.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: CiiSystemID

Access: read-write

Description: The ID for this Intermediate System. This value is appended to each of the area addresses to form the Network Entity Titles. The derivation of a value for this object is implementation-specific. Some implementations may automatically assign values and not permit an SNMP write, while others may require the value to be set manually.

What is ciiSysID?

This is the ID for this Intermediate System, appended to each area address to form the Network Entity Titles; its derivation is implementation-specific, with some platforms auto-assigning and disallowing SNMP writes while others require manual configuration. This System ID combines with the configured area address to form the router's unique identity, so a duplicate System ID anywhere in the same IS-IS area causes LSP database corruption and adjacency flapping across multiple routers simultaneously. For example, an admin standardizing IDs across a network might set this to a value derived from the router's loopback IP, such as 0192.0168.0001.00, to guarantee uniqueness across the whole IS-IS domain.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.118.1.1.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-IETF-ISIS-MIB::ciiSysID

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.118.1.1.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-IETF-ISIS-MIB::ciiSysID.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.118.1.1.1.3.1 s <value>
