Type: INTEGER

Access: read-create

Description: The type of the circuit. This object follows the replaceOnlyWhileDisabled behavior. The type specified must be compatible with the type of the interface defined by the value of ciiCircIfIndex.

What is ciiCircType?

This is the type of the circuit, following the replaceOnlyWhileDisabled behavior, and it must be compatible with the type of the interface defined by ciiCircIfIndex. It declares the circuit's network topology model -- broadcast (LAN with DIS election) versus point-to-point (direct link, no DIS needed) among the other variants -- and mismatching this against the actual interface causes IS-IS to run the wrong adjacency and flooding behavior for that medium. For example, declaring a genuinely point-to-point Ethernet sub-interface as broadcast(1) instead of ptToPt(2) would cause the router to needlessly run DIS election logic on a link that has only one possible neighbor.
