Category: Cisco Devices, Network Interfaces, SNMP Framework

Description: Declares SNMP agent capability statements for the IEEE 802.3ad Link Aggregation (LAG) MIB implementation on Cisco platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-IEEE8023-LAG-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-IEEE8023-LAG-CAPABILITY is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module that documents which parts of the standard IEEE8023-LAG-MIB (802.3ad Link Aggregation) a given Cisco SNMP agent implementation actually supports. It does not itself expose any monitorable runtime data; it contains only capability/conformance statements describing implemented groups, variations, and value ranges within the base LAG MIB. Consequently it plays no direct role in monitoring hardware or software health; its purpose is purely to inform management stations what to expect when polling the referenced LAG MIB on that platform. It is explicitly dependent on, and meaningless without, the IEEE8023-LAG-MIB it describes. Such capability modules are used behind the scenes by NMS tooling and MIB compilers when validating or configuring SNMP polling against Cisco switches and routers that run Link Aggregation. Engineers can download the CISCO-IEEE8023-LAG-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-IEEE8023-LAG-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco switches/routers implementing IEEE 802.3ad Link Aggregation (LAG)

Monitoring Examples

This is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module with no runtime data objects of its own, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; it exists solely to declare which groups and variations of IEEE8023-LAG-MIB a Cisco agent supports.
