Description: This object indicates whether generation of traps for ERM policy violation notifications are allowed or not.

When this object is set to 'true', it allows generation of traps for the ERM policy violation related notifications ciscoErmGlobalPolicyViolation and ciscoErmLocalPolicyViolation.

What is cermNotifsEnabled?

This is the master switch controlling whether the device is allowed to generate SNMP traps at all for ERM policy violations, specifically the ciscoErmGlobalPolicyViolation and ciscoErmLocalPolicyViolation notifications. Because this gates both the global and local violation trap types together, leaving it disabled means none of the carefully configured per-resource or per-policy thresholds elsewhere in this MIB will ever actually notify anyone via SNMP, even though the underlying threshold logic keeps evaluating. An admin who has meticulously configured tiered rising/falling thresholds across several resource policies would get zero SNMP traps from any of them if this single object is left set to false.
