This object reports the average number of this ancillary service's packets that were dropped per video frame. Any sustained nonzero value here directly represents lost ancillary data; for closed captioning this means viewers are missing caption content, and for DPI cue tones it could mean ad-insertion triggers are being missed, so this is a key compliance and quality metric an admin monitors per service. A broadcaster required to deliver captions with near-zero loss would treat any sustained rise in this object for the eia708 row as a compliance risk requiring investigation into the SDI signal chain feeding this device.
