Description: This variable allows the user to cause duplicate MAC addresses to age out concurrently. If set to zero, it is ignored and the aging timer for each group where the address was learned will be used. Values 1 through 9 are not valid. If set to a value between 10 and 1000000, it will be used instead of the group aging timers. Units are seconds.
What is chasNewDupMacSupport?
This object lets an admin override the normal per-group aging timers for duplicate MAC addresses with a single explicit aging value in seconds; setting it to 0 restores default per-group timer behavior, values 1-9 are invalid, and 10-1000000 sets a uniform aging time. An admin dealing with rapid MAC moves across a redundant topology, for example after a failover event, might shorten this value so stale duplicate-MAC entries age out faster and stop causing forwarding confusion, rather than waiting on each group's own default timer. Setting chasNewDupMacSupport to 300 would force all duplicate MAC entries chassis-wide to age out after 5 minutes instead of using each group's individual aging timer.
