This object holds a checksum-like value derived from a file's name, used purely as the index/instance identifier the NMS must use when referring to that specific file in other flash-file-system operations. An admin scripting automated file operations against the flash file system, like triggering a delete or copy via chasControlFFSFileAction, must first read this value to know the correct instance to target, since it's the switch, not the NMS, that decides this identifier. Before an automated script can delete a stale firmware image from flash, it must first query this object to get the correct instance identifier the switch expects for that file.
