Module: CHASSIS-MIB
OID (symbolic): CHASSIS-MIB::chasAccountCongStrategy
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.800.2.1.7.24
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: When the switch is in congestion state, for lack of resources to store accounting data, this parameter indicates whether new SVC connections are accepted but not charged (acceptCalls), or whether they are refused (refuseCalls).
What is chasAccountCongStrategy?
This object determines what the switch does with new SVC connection requests once it's in the congestion state described under chasAccountThreshold3, either accept them without charging (acceptCalls) or refuse them outright (refuseCalls). This is a direct business tradeoff an admin makes between preserving revenue accuracy, refusing new calls so nothing goes unbilled, versus preserving service availability, letting calls through even if they can't be billed, which matters most during a billing-pipeline outage. A carrier that prioritizes customer service continuity over billing completeness would set this object to acceptCalls(1), letting new connections through unbilled rather than refusing service during an accounting backlog.
