vpi

Module: CHANNEL-CHANGE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CHANNEL-CHANGE-MIB::vpi

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1.1.1.1.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-create

Description: The value of this object is equal to the VPI allocated to the replication point (ATM VCC) in the OLT/ONU for this channel.

What is vpi?

This object holds the ATM Virtual Path Identifier (VPI) assigned to the replication point set up in the OLT/ONU to carry this particular broadcast channel. Because IPTV/video channels in this MIB are delivered over ATM VCCs, an admin needs the correct VPI/VCI pair to trace or troubleshoot which ATM circuit is actually carrying a given channel's multicast stream down to the DSL line. For example, a sports channel might have vpi=0 and vci=100, identifying VCC 0/100 as the circuit replicating that stream to subscribers.
