Description: A control object to disable or enable the SNMP agent's trap send capability. newvalDisable : same functionality as 'disable', new enumeration added for RFC1155 compatibility.

What is cdx6500SNMPTrapEnable?

This is a control switch that turns the SNMP agent's trap-sending capability on or off, with a redundant 'newvalDisable' enumeration added purely for RFC1155 backward compatibility. Setting this to disable on this legacy node is a blunt instrument, silencing every trap the node would otherwise send, alarms, threshold crossings, config changes, so an admin would only do this temporarily, for example during planned maintenance, to avoid flooding the NMS with expected-but-noisy alerts. For example, disabling this before a scheduled firmware upgrade prevents a storm of spurious link-down and link-up traps from cluttering the operations console during the reboot.
