Description: Unit returns the value of the Rx signal level, in dBm, between -20 and -99 dBm, Returns -100 if signal is less than -99dBm. Returns -19 if signal is greater than -20dBm.

What is cdd564RxSignalLevel?

This read-only object reports the Rx signal level in dBm, ranging from -20 to -99 dBm, with -100 returned if the signal is weaker than -99 dBm and -19 returned if it's stronger than -20 dBm. Signal level, as opposed to Eb/No which reflects quality relative to noise, tells an admin the raw received RF power -- useful for diagnosing antenna pointing, cabling loss, or LNB gain issues distinct from noise-related quality problems, since a strong signal level with poor Eb/No points to interference or noise rather than a weak received signal. If this object reads a healthy -45 dBm but Eb/No is poor, that combination suggests interference or a noisy front end rather than an antenna-pointing problem, since the raw power at the antenna is clearly adequate.
